NOTIFICATION OF VACANCIES: Applications will be accepted for (6) teaching positions in the Westfield Public Schools for the grant funded Intermediate School Transition Program to be held at Westfield Intermediate School. This program begins on Monday, August 10, 2026 and runs through Thursday, August 13, 2026.

Training Date: August 6, 2026 - 2 Hours

Teacher's Hours: 8:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Student Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Starting Date: August 10, 2026

Ending Date: August 13, 2026

POSITIONS: (6) Teachers (for students entering grades 5 & 6) Teachers must be available for the entire program and specified training listed above.

FUNDING: (Pending grant funding and student enrollment) Rate of Pay: $45.00 per hour with no benefits, not to exceed a total of 18 hours per teacher which includes preparation time and training.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Site Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist students in the transition from elementary to intermediate school. Develop project based learning activities based on students' academic and language proficiency levels that include literacy, mathematics, and science Provide instructional and social-emotional support for all students Work collaboratively with grade level teachers and coordinator Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of students Use assessment data to plan instruction Complete student progress reports as needed Develop lesson plans and prepare instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curricula to the needs of each student and submit to Program Site Coordinator Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Strive to develop positive relationships with students Implement the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) model Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students' progress and interpret the summer program Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day Perform any duties that may be assigned by the Administrator of Student Interventions, Building Principal, and Program Site Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS: Massachusetts teacher certification as required Massachusetts SEI Teacher Endorsement preferred Classroom experience at appropriate grade level Prior related summer program experience preferred
