Position Summary:
Arthur Center is looking for a skilled, compassionate Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our care team and serve women and families across central Missouri. In this role, you will provide dedicated women's health services — from well-woman exams and contraceptive counseling to prenatal and postnatal care and gynecologic disease management — as part of an integrated team that includes primary care physicians, behavioral health clinicians, and dental providers. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Well-Woman and Preventive Care
- Conduct comprehensive well-woman examinations across all stages of life including adolescence, reproductive years, and menopause.
- Provide Pap smears, STI screening, breast exams, and other preventive screenings in accordance with current clinical guidelines.
- Offer contraceptive counseling and management including hormonal methods, IUD placement, and other long-acting reversible contraception.
- Provide menopause management and long-term gynecologic health care across the lifespan.
Prenatal and Postnatal Care
- Provide comprehensive prenatal care including initial assessments, ongoing monitoring, patient education, and coordination of care throughout pregnancy.
- Deliver postnatal care and support for patients and families following delivery.
- Incorporate perinatal mental health screening and referral into prenatal and postnatal care in collaboration with behavioral health colleagues.
Gynecologic Disease Management
- Diagnose and manage common gynecologic conditions including menstrual disorders, PCOS, endometriosis, pelvic pain, and menopausal symptoms.
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing and laboratory results relevant to women's health.
- Prescribe medications and therapies appropriate to each patient's diagnosis and clinical needs; monitor treatment efficacy and adjust care plans as needed.
- Refer to physicians or specialists when clinical needs exceed scope of practice.
Integrated Care and Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with primary care physicians, behavioral health clinicians, and the broader care team to deliver coordinated, whole-person care for women and families.
- Provide patient education and counseling on women's health topics to promote long-term wellness and informed decision-making.
- Participate in community outreach and women's health education initiatives as appropriate.
- Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement activities, and organizational committees as requested.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record in compliance with all applicable legal and confidentiality standards including HIPAA.
- Meet all internal and external reporting requirements including data collection for quality improvement.
- Perform other duties as requested by department leadership.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong clinical skills across women's health and gynecologic care with the ability to exercise sound independent judgment.
- Excellent patient communication skills — able to build trust and comfort with patients of all backgrounds across all stages of life.
- Knowledge of perinatal mental health and the ability to integrate behavioral health considerations into women's health care.
- Understanding of the unique health needs of underserved and rural populations and a genuine commitment to meeting those needs.
- Highly collaborative — comfortable working within an integrated, multidisciplinary care model.
- Committed to continuous professional development and staying current with evidence-based women's health practices.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach with a genuine passion for women's health.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
- Active, unrestricted Missouri licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required.
- National certification as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C), or equivalent PA certification required.
- Active DEA license or willingness to obtain required.
- Active Medicaid numbers and NPI preferred.
- Minimum of one to two years of clinical experience in women's health or a related field preferred.
