Located within minutes of historic Charleston, South Carolina, and its many beaches, Charleston Birth Place is the only CABC-accredited CNM freestanding birth center in South Carolina.
We serve a diverse population with roots serving the military and the uninsured. Established in 2008, we are a CNM practice that has assisted over 3,500 families who seek a low-intervention out-of-hospital birth. We attend births at our beautiful new 9,000 sq. ft birth center and the new state-of-the-art Pearl Tourville Women's Pavilion at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Our maternity services include extended prenatal care appointments, labor support, water birth, and frequent postpartum follow-up. Through our Nest program, we offer in-house chiropractic care, pelvic floor PT, mental health counseling, IBCLC consulting, and a variety of classes and support groups. Our wellness services include annual exams, contraception, IUD placement, gynecological problem visits, and preconception planning. We are seeking a compassionate, experienced Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) to join our birth center team on a part-time basis. This clinic-based position provides care for both gynecologic and obstetric patients in collaboration with our midwives and healthcare team.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide routine gynecologic care, including annual exams, contraception management, STI screening, and evaluation of common gynecologic concerns.
- Provide outpatient prenatal and postpartum care.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage women's health conditions within the WHNP scope of practice.
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing as appropriate.
- Educate patients on preventive health, pregnancy, and wellness.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and collaborate with the clinical team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
Qualifications:
- Current WHNP certification and active state APRN/RN licensure.
- Women's health or OB/GYN clinical experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care
