Position Overview

The Women’s Program Coordinator will help lead and grow MCN’s Women’s Program, with a strong focus on civic engagement. The Women’s Program includes the Muslim Women’s Civic Engagement Program (MWCEP), a 12-week program that teaches Muslim women how to be civically engaged in their community and other workshops like Healthy Relationships, Financial Literacy, Mental Health and Wellness, and Ramadan Preparedness. The Women’s Program Coordinator is also responsible for planning and managing additional special events and collaborating with the team to help develop the program.

This Position works under the direct supervision of the Civic Leadership Program Manager.

Key Responsibilities

 

  1. Program Facilitation & Delivery
    • Lead the Civic Education Leadership program for women, creating inclusive spaces for sharing, continued engagement and learning.
    • Edit and develop new curriculum for the Civic Education Leadership program
    • Organize and implement Financial Literacy Workshops, Women's Wellness Workshops, Fall festival/Wellness festival.
    • Organize initiatives addressing key issues like hate crime prevention, Islamophobia, and cultural sensitivity, empowering women to advocate in their communities.
    • Develop relevant materials to support workshops
  1. Building Partnerships
    • Develop relationships with Mosques, community groups, and colleges to host MCN workshops
    • Engage with Muslim women citywide to bring them into the program
    • Foster relationships with mosques and community groups, actively engaging Muslim women citywide.
    • Connect with new partners (CBO’s, Government Agencies, etc.) to support with workshops and program events
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for program participants and partners
  2. Program Development and Growth
    • Develop new workshop ideas to contribute to MCN’s mission
    • Support strategic planning and adapt program elements to reflect participants' needs, maximizing relevance and impact.
    • Take on special initiatives that address emerging community issues or opportunities for greater engagement, working closely with MCN leadership.
  3. Administrative
    • Track program progress and report on engagement and impact to enhance program effectiveness.
    • Track program budget
    • Oversee daily administrative, operational, and logistical activities
  4. Leadership & Collaboration
    • Support team members with additional programming and events
    • Act as a role model and advocate, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to strengthen program outreach and impact.
    • Represent MCN at external events

 

Qualifications

 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as required.
  • Well situated in teaching / facilitating and developing workshops.
  • Knowledge of the issues impacting Muslim communities, specifically Muslim Women.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Event management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Word and Excel) and databases. 
  • Knowledge of community resources and social services.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Resourceful and self-starter with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure with quick turnaround.

Preferred

  • Policy, advocacy and civic engagement experience.
  • Knowledge of DV support services for women.
  • Experience working with women from different background.
  • Strong knowledge or some experience in Lobbying.
  • Ability to create innovative marketing and social media content.

Work Environment:

Hybrid: The Women's Program Coordinator will work in a hybrid environment with Two days in-person in the office being required apart from traveling to event/workshop site as required. They will occasionally need to visit community organizations and events for networking purposes. Weekend availability is required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $60,000 annually
