Job Summary
The Cabinet Carpenter is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing custom and production cabinetry in a wood shop environment. This role requires strong woodworking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work from drawings and specifications to produce high-quality finished products.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct custom and semi-custom cabinets, casework, and related millwork components
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and cut lists
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and sand wood and wood-based materials
- Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools, including table saws, planers, routers, sanders, and CNC equipment (if applicable)
- Apply finishes such as stains, sealers, and lacquers as required
- Assemble cabinet boxes, doors, drawer boxes, and hardware
- Maintain quality standards, ensuring accuracy, durability, and appearance of finished products
- Follow shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Collaborate with shop supervisors, designers, and other carpenters to meet production schedules
- Assist with material handling, inventory, and shop maintenance as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or apprenticeship preferred
- Proven experience in cabinet making or woodworking
- Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques, materials, and joinery methods
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with woodworking tools and equipment
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods
