Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, the Office Work Assist is directly responsible to, and assists, Directors, Assistant Directors, and senior staff members in whatever areas deemed necessary. It is the duty of each DOS staff member to keep the Dean of Students, the senior staff members, and/or the Administrative Assistant abreast of any discipline, personal, physical, or emotional problems involving the student population. Additionally, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for updating electronic files and keeping complete and accurate records of student situations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage Data - Assist with data entry, including but not limited to, student appointments, email and phone referrals, updates to student records, group and event attendance, and training initiatives.
  • Manage the Reception Area - This includes, but is not limited to, swiping appointments, routing visitors, filtering questions, answering phone calls, distributing mail, scheduling meetings, providing front desk coverage, and communicating any emergencies to a full-time CARE staff member.
  • Maintain the Office Suite - This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining an organized and well-stocked office supply closet, maintaining an organized lobby, waiting area, lounge, and group rooms, restocking refreshments, notifying the Associate Director and Senior Associate Director of any office supply needs, and light cleaning, as needed.
  • Research - Assist the Associate Director and Senior Associate Director with research surrounding recovery programming, policies, and procedures.
  • Administration - Help maintain and manage the recovery inbox and assist with marketing and promotional tasks.
  • Manage confidential information and record keeping practices in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Collaborate with other CARE staff regarding case information, communication with Liberty community members, communication with external parties, etc.
  • Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's Christian model and Mission - Training Champions for Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

Student must be currently enrolled in the institution.

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Working environment may include facilitation of events outdoors occasionally. May be required to participate in recovery group events outside of normal business hours.

Starting at $12.77

Student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.
