LOCATION: Braxton County Middle School/Braxton County High School

CLASSIFICATION: Professional

REPORTS TO: Student Services Director

EVALUATION: Evaluations conducted as defined in West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5310 and BCBOE Policy 3250.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

CONTRACT: 3 days per week beginning August 30, 2026, through May 31, 2027.

SALARY: $25 per hour

EFFECTIVE: At the direction of the Student Services Director

CERTIFICATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education degree, special education, or related field. Special Education degree preferred, Masters Degree preferred.
  • Experience with secondary transitions
  • Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate.
  • Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.
  • Perform duties as described in the job description below.

Job Summary:

Position will work to support BCMS and BCHS for work exploration and engagement activities to help increase work base opportunities for students with disabilities through exploration.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed drugs while in the workplace. Alcohol and controlled substances which affect employee productivity, safety or judgment in the workplace will not be tolerated.

Staff members serve as role models for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide guidance, resources, and assistance to all schools in the county in organizing and conducting their individual their individual STREAM Fairs.

  • Provide engagement activities with families, career exploration, and other opportunities for families and community.

  • Transport students for work-based learning opportunities in Braxton County.

  • Attend WVGPTG monthly meetings in person and ZOOM

  • Meet with secondary teachers to review and support transition plans.

  • Work with the Department of Rehabilitative Services to support students

  • Collaborate with special education team, including administrator and special education director.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community members.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, student-centered approach.

  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and communication.

  • Ensure compliance with all district policies, safety protocols, and West Virginia Department of Education requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
