Job Summary

The work study program provides funds for part-time employment to help students finance the costs of postsecondary education. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student's course of study. The program is designed to provide students with an opportunity for employment arranged around class schedules, while providing essential services to the College and the community.

Essential Functions

Staff the front desk by greeting visitors, answering questions, directing guests, and providing exceptional customer service.

Answer and route incoming phone calls in a professional and courteous manner while taking accurate messages as needed.

Assist students, faculty, staff, and community members with general inquiries and connect them with appropriate resources.

Support recruitment and outreach efforts by representing DMACC VanKirk Career Academy at community events, career fairs, school visits, open houses, and other promotional activities.

Assist with event planning, setup, registration, and logistics for student and community programs.

Complete special projects assigned by Career Academy staff, including data entry, filing, preparing materials, assembling packets, organizing supplies, and other administrative support.

Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area and common spaces.

Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and a positive attitude while representing DMACC.

Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and daily operations of the Career Academy.

Required Qualifications

Must be reliable and trustworthy.

Desired Qualifications

Currently enrolled at DMACC maintaining at least half-time enrollment.

Possess good customer service and communication skills, demonstrate reliability and professionalism, and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with staff and students.

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings for events, front desk, and special programs.

Positive attitude, initiative, and a commitment to representing DMACC VanKirk Career Academy in a professional manner.

Work Schedule

10 hours per week, flexible with student schedule. Some evening hours required.
