Work-Study or Student EMT/Paramedic Assistant

Looking for a hands-on campus job? As an EMS Student Worker, youll work alongside the EMT/Paramedic Technology program to set up and tear down labs, assist with simulator maintenance, manage inventory, and support practical skills training. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a healthcare education environment while making an impact on student success.

What Youll Do

You will prep for lab activities, clean up after lab activities, and assist in conducting lab scenarios as well as related to tasks as they arise. You will also assist, when able, with tour groups and demonstrations. You will be trained prior to being tasked with these activities.

Additional Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a work schedule that balances academic commitments while meeting the needs of the EMS laboratory.

• Complete and submit a bi-weekly availability calendar and provide at least 24 hours notice of any anticipated absences.

• Demonstrate initiative by independently working on assigned tasks and identifying opportunities to assist with additional projects after receiving appropriate training.

• Assist with laboratory preparation, setup, and cleanup for EMS courses while adhering to established infection control and safety practices.

• Support special events, campus visits, and tour groups as available by helping create positive and engaging experiences for prospective students and guests.

• Monitor inventory levels of lab supplies and equipment and notify faculty when items need to be reordered.

• Assist with copying, filing, data entry, and document preparation, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Identify opportunities to improve organization, cleanliness, and efficiency within the EMS lab and communicate suggestions to faculty.

• Support a variety of projects and responsibilities, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively

• Maintain a professional, positive attitude and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and visitors

• Ask questions and seek clarification when needed to ensure assignments are completed accurately and successfully.

Required Qualifications

• Interest in Health Sciences as a career
• Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated positive customer service skills, and the ability to relate to people of varying ages and backgrounds
• Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite, email, and electronic calendar (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects
• Ability to work independently and handle interruptions
• Ability to lift 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous employment experience in a position >1 year
• Experience or Interest in Paramedic Technology as a career field

• Continuously - 66-100%- Use hands dexterously, talk or hear.
• Frequently - 34-66% Stand, walk, or sit, reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally-1-33%-Stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl, climb or balance, or lift to 25 pounds.
