Position Description & Details

Do you have a passion for helping your student peers, assisting with preparation for new-student registration events, and providing office support? The Bismarck State College Academic Advising office is seeking a student employee who is supportive, reliable, and accountable to be a part of their Academic Advising team.

What Youll Do

You will provide support and information to students, and assist the Academic Advising office with specialized projects and routine daily office tasks.

Hourly Rate: $16.00/hour

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist academic advisors in scheduling and conducting advising sessions with new students.
  • Provide support in preparation for and during student registration events for new, returning, and transfer students.
  • Provide information and guidance on course selection, degree requirements, and academic policies.
  • Help new students understand and utilize college resources, such as tutoring services, libraries, and online platforms.
  • Maintain accurate records of advising sessions and student interactions.
  • Respond to student inquiries via email, phone, and in person.

Required Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Bismarck State College
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred:

  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Familiarity with Campus Connection
  • Previous experience in a customer service or advising role is preferred
