Position Information

The Student Life Media Team Lead serves as a student leader within the Division for Student Life's media team. This position plays a critical role in planning, coordinating, and overseeing student media efforts, while mentoring and supporting Student Life Media Assistants to ensure high-quality, consistent, and impactful storytelling.

In collaboration with professional staff, the Student Life Media Team Lead will help translate divisional priorities into engaging visual and digital content, sets expectations for student media work, and ensure that Student Media Assistants are well-trained, supported, and scheduled effectively.

This role provides experience in the following key areas and includes the responsibilities outlined below:

  1. Leadership, Planning, and Coordination
  • Assist with planning and organizing media coverage for Student Life programs, events, and initiatives across campus.
  • Help establish and maintain content priorities, workflows, and timelines in alignment with divisional goals.
  • Support the curation of the Student Life divisional vibe, ensuring consistency in tone, messaging, and visual identity across platforms.
  1. Training and Mentorship
  • Serve as a peer leader and mentor to Student Life Media Assistants, fostering skill development, accountability, and confidence.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new Student Media Assistants in photography, videography, social media content creation, and best practices.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help student staff grow creatively and professionally.
  1. Management and Scheduling
  • Help coordinate assignments and schedules for Student Media Assistants to ensure adequate coverage and balanced workloads.
  • Serve as a point of contact for day-to-day questions, problem-solving, and support for the student media team.
  • Monitor progress on assignments and assist in ensuring projects are completed accurately, on time, and to standard.
  1. Content Creation and Execution
  • Capture and create high-quality photography and video content highlighting student experiences and the impact of Student Life services.
  • Assist with social media content creation, including ideation, drafting captions, and selecting visuals.
  • Model professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail in all media work.
  1. Collaboration and Communication
  • Work closely with professional staff to communicate expectations, updates, and feedback between staff and student media assistants.
  • Support a collaborative, inclusive, and positive team environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Student Life initiatives.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Must have Work Study award in your financial aid package

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with photography, videography, and/or social media content creation.
  • Interest in leadership, mentoring, and supporting peer success.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, balance multiple priorities, and work independently.

Physical Demands

  • Light office work
  • On-foot travel across campus for photo and video shoots
  • Carrying and operating a camera.
