Our client, a national multi-site organization with an established Workday Center of Excellence, is hiring a Director to take ownership of its Workday Financials platform. This is a hands-on leadership seat: you'll set the standard for how the platform is configured, governed, and improved, while building and coaching a small team of finance systems analysts.
The environment is growing quickly through acquisition, and the finance systems function is being rebuilt for scale. The right person enjoys walking into an environment that needs structure, establishing operating rhythm, and earning credibility with finance and procurement leaders through real platform depth.

Responsibilities
Platform Leadership & Governance
  • Full accountability for the health, stability, and roadmap execution of the Workday Financials environment, operating within an enterprise product model alongside technology product management
  • Design authority for business processes, approval routing, posting logic, validations, and financial controls across the platform
  • Release cycle leadership for finance modules, from impact assessment through testing, deployment, and adoption
  • Audit readiness, SOX alignment, and disciplined change control across all configuration activity
Functional Scope
  • Core financial management: general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed assets, projects, banking, and period close, with a clean chart of accounts and accounting structure
  • Procure-to-pay across both indirect and direct purchasing models, including supplier management, catalogs and punchouts, requisition-to-PO flows, expenses, and high-volume invoice processing
  • Adaptive Planning, partnering with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, and long-range planning
  • Reporting and analytics governance: report catalog, dashboards, data definitions, and alignment between Workday data and downstream BI platforms
People & Partnerships
  • Hire, develop, and retain a team of Workday finance systems analysts; serve as the escalation point for complex configuration and process decisions
  • Build trusted relationships with finance, accounting, FP&A, procurement, and technology stakeholders
  • Manage day-to-day quality of work delivered by Workday and consulting partners
  • Support the financial-systems side of acquisition onboarding, standardizing structures, suppliers, and processes as new entities join the platform
What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years in finance systems or ERP leadership, with deep, current expertise in Workday Financial Management and Adaptive Planning
  • A genuine player-coach: comfortable going into the tenant to assess configuration quality, and equally comfortable presenting to executives
  • Strong command of finance fundamentals the accounting cycle, procure-to-pay, FP&A processes, and financial reporting
  • Experience operating in a product-based delivery model, executing against a defined roadmap while influencing its direction
  • A builder's mindset: proven success creating structure, governance, and team capability where little existed before
Certifications (Preferred)
  • Workday Pro: Financial Management
  • Workday Pro: Platform Administrator
  • Workday Pro: Adaptive Planning
