Workday Payroll Analyst

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Workday Payroll Analyst to support a mature global Workday environment. This individual will join an established HRIS team and provide hands-on support for Workday Payroll configuration, payroll integrations, troubleshooting, enhancements, and day-to-day production support.
This is not a payroll processing position. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Workday professional who understands payroll functionality and can translate payroll requirements into Workday configuration while supporting the integrations and downstream systems that depend on payroll data.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain Workday Payroll configuration with a primary focus on U.S. Payroll.
- Troubleshoot payroll-related Workday issues, including earnings, deductions, taxes, calculations, and downstream integration failures.
- Partner closely with Payroll leadership to translate regulatory and business requirements into Workday configuration.
- Investigate production issues that arise during payroll cycles and identify root causes quickly.
- Support payroll integrations between Workday and third-party providers, including payroll, tax, retirement, and other downstream systems.
- Troubleshoot integration failures, mapping issues, data discrepancies, and configuration changes impacting payroll.
- Support global payroll integrations with external payroll providers.
- Configure and maintain Workday business processes and payroll-related functionality.
- Support ongoing Workday enhancements and evaluate potential downstream impacts before deployment.
- Build and maintain straightforward Workday integrations and APIs as needed.
- Support reporting and data requirements related to payroll.
- Participate in testing and validation of Workday configuration changes and integrations.
- Manage day-to-day HRIS support requests as well as project-based initiatives.
- Collaborate with HRIS, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, IT, and other internal stakeholders.
Required Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Workday Payroll, particularly U.S. Payroll.
- Experience configuring and supporting Workday Payroll in a production environment.
- Strong understanding of Workday payroll configuration including earnings, deductions, taxes, and payroll calculations.
- Experience troubleshooting Workday Payroll issues during active payroll cycles.
- Experience supporting Workday payroll integrations and third-party payroll providers.
- Ability to understand payroll requirements and translate them into Workday configuration.
- Experience with Workday integration tools and methodologies.
- Experience troubleshooting data feeds, mappings, integration failures, and downstream system issues.
- Experience supporting a mature Workday production environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work closely with payroll subject matter experts and other HRIS team members.
Preferred Experience
- Workday U.S. Payroll experience supporting employees across multiple states, including California.
- Exposure to U.K. Payroll.
- Experience with global payroll integrations and providers such as ADP and CloudPay.
- Experience with retirement/benefits integrations such as Fidelity.
- Experience building and maintaining straightforward Workday integrations and APIs.
- Exposure to Workday reporting.
- Experience supporting complex, global organizations.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Workday Payroll professional who enjoys troubleshooting and production support. This person should be comfortable investigating why a payroll calculation, tax, deduction, earning, or downstream integration is not behaving as expected and working across Payroll and HRIS teams to resolve the issue quickly.
