Workday Technical Lead – Payroll, Time & Absence

The Workday Technical Lead – Payroll, Time & Absence is responsible for the end-to-end technical ownership, design, and governance of Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence modules. This role serves as the system authority for thedomain, ensuring scalable design, data integrity, and alignment with business and compliance requirements.

This position operates within IT and partners closely with Payroll, HR, and external vendors to deliver reliable, efficient, and compliant solutions. While not responsible for payroll processing, this role is accountable for the systems and configurations that enable accurate payroll outcomes.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Workday experience with deep expertise in:
  • Workday Payroll (U.S.)
  • Time Tracking
  • Absence
  • Proven experience owning system design and configuration decisions
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance, and downstream impacts
  • Experience supporting integrations and data flows across systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex problem-solving and root cause analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Workday certifications in Payroll, Time Tracking, or Absence
  • Experience with global payroll integrations and vendor coordination
  • Experience with Workday integrations (EIB, Studio, APIs)
  • Background in IT or HR technology environments

Location:

  • Three days a week at a Guardian office in New York, NY, Holmdel, NJ, Stamford, CT or Bethlehem, PA.

Salary Range:

$118,980.00 - $195,465.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
