Location: This position is based on-site in our Columbia, South Carolina office. We are open to candidates relocating to the area and may provide relocation assistance for the right candidate.

Note: Candidates must be licensed and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar and have direct South Carolina workers’ compensation defense experience. A book of business is not required. Ideal candidates will have 1+ years of relevant experience.

Job Description

• Defend workers’ compensation claims on behalf of employers, insurers, third-party administrators, risk managers, and self-insured entities.
• \n
• Manage cases through all phases of litigation from initial evaluation through resolution.
• \n
• Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• \n
• Handle discovery, depositions, mediations, hearings, trials, appeals, and settlement negotiations.
• \n
• Communicate regularly with clients and provide strategic legal guidance.
• \n
• Identify related legal issues and opportunities that may impact client matters.
• \n
• Effectively manage a caseload while maintaining high-quality work product and client service.
• \n
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff in a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• \n
• Active South Carolina Bar license in good standing.
• \n
• 1+ years of South Carolina workers’ compensation defense experience.
• \n
• Strong litigation, research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• \n
• Experience handling discovery, depositions, and case management.
• \n
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• \n
• Strong interpersonal and client communication skills.
• \n
• Comfortable using legal technology and case management systems.
• \n
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
