Goldberg Segalla seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team to provide Workers' Compensation attorneys that have a high volume of work with legal assistant support within our Newark or Princeton NJ offices. This role involves a combination of administrative and substantive legal work, ensuring that cases are well-organized and efficiently managed. 

This role is eligible to be hybrid after on-site training is complete.

KEY QUALITIES:

  • Communication Skills: Ability to document and present legal research and related information to supervising attorney(s) promptly.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computers for legal research, and other legal tasks. Familiarity with software (e.g., Microsoft Suite) for organizing and maintaining legal documents.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to develop good relationships with clients and professionals, making clients comfortable sharing personal case information. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines. Excellent organizational skills are essential.
  • Research Skills: Strong research and investigative skills for conducting legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and articles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Outlook, TEAMS, Calendar, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of legal documents and terminology as it relates to Workers’ Compensation such as subpoenas, Affidavits of Service and Affirmations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with firm policies.
  • Assist with filings, appeals, rebuttals and other various motions.
  • Draft demand letters and pursue discovery from opposing counsel.
  • Draft and complete Affidavit of Service.
  • Manage and calendar placeholders.
  • Save all emails, documents and filings in the document management system.
  • Send out hearing reports, interim reports, and deposition reports.
  • Open and close files in addition to completing information sheets.
  • Coordinate witness prep per business needs.
  • Maintain caseload and/or hearing trackers per business need.
  • Assist with budgets and rejected invoices.
  • Serve surveillance and assist with evidence cover letter.
  • Daily management of attorney’s billable entries as needed.
  • Daily reminder of deadlines.
  • Organize and reassign documents and emails within the case management system.
  • Other assigned duties.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE:        
  • Associates degree preferred, 2+ administrative experience.
  • Workers’ Compensation experience preferred.
  • Clear communication and information exchange in English.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to observe and assess data and documents in printed form and on computer screens.
  • Willingness to work beyond normal hours.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently within general guidelines and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to respond and maintain confidentiality of information or adversarial inquiries.

BENEFITS:
The hourly salary range for this position is $21.00 to $23.50.  Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law. This position also offers bonuses and a full benefits package.
