Goldberg Segalla has an immediate opportunity for a Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant in our Hartford, CT office.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Outlook, TEAMS, Calendar, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of legal documents and terminology as it relates to Workers’ Compensation, such as subpoenas, Affidavits of Service and Affirmations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with firm policies.
  • Assist with filings, appeals, rebuttals, and other various motions.
  • Draft demand letters and pursue discovery from opposing counsel.
  • Draft and complete Affidavit of Service.
  • Manage and calendar placeholders.
  • Save all emails, documents, and filings in the document management system.
  • Send out hearing, interim, and deposition reports.
  • Open and close files in addition to completing information sheets.
  • Coordinate witness prep per business needs.
  • Maintain caseload and/or hearing trackers per business needs.
  • Assist with budgets and rejected invoices.
  • Serve surveillance and assist with evidence cover letter.
  • Daily management of attorney’s billable entries as needed.
  • Daily reminder of deadlines.
  • Organize and reassign documents and emails within the case management system.
  • Other assigned duties.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE:    
  • Associate's degree preferred, 2+ years of administrative experience.
  • Workers’ Compensation experience preferred.
  • Clear communication and information exchange in English.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to observe and assess data and documents in printed form and on computer screens.
  • Willingness to work beyond normal hours.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently within general guidelines and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to respond and maintain confidentiality of information or adversarial inquiries.
