The Workforce Development Specialist in the Sedgwick County Health Department (SCHD) builds and implements the SCHD Workforce Development Plan to ensure SCHD can prevent disease, promote wellness and protect the public from health threats. The position plans and implements workforce development activities according to public health accreditation standards and coordinates trainings, new employee onboarding and student learning. The position assesses workforce activities through development and analysis of staff surveys and builds relationships with SCHD staff and the community, serving on assigned committees. Employee may deploy to the field as a responder or in a leadership position during public health emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications: Three years of project management experience. Two years of experience working with community groups or organizations. Two years of work experience writing and implementing plans and/or policies. One year of work experience with data management and/or data analysis. One year of presenting to audiences. Up to four years of experience may be substituted with education that provides applicable knowledge and skills. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver's license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Must complete Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) IS 100, 200, and 700 courses within 30 days of employment. One year of experience with Microsoft Suite or compatible tools.
Preferred Qualifications: Two years of work in a public health organization. Two years of training and/or work experience in program evaluation. One year of group facilitation experience. One year of evaluating policies and plans associated with public health services. Master's degree in social/behavioral science, public health, or business/public/health administration.
