Job Title: Working Lead Janitor & Custodian
Job Summary:
The Working Lead Janitor & Custodian performs routine cleaning and maintenance duties while providing hands-on leadership to the custodial team. This role serves as the first point of contact for team members during the shift, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and according to company and client standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom sanitation.
Clean and disinfect offices, classrooms, hallways, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners.
Replenish restroom and cleaning supplies as needed.
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums.
Assign and prioritize daily work for janitorial staff.
Train new employees on cleaning procedures, safety practices, and company policies.
Monitor employee performance and ensure quality standards are consistently met.
Conduct routine inspections of assigned areas and address deficiencies promptly.
Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, supply shortages, and equipment problems to management.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and all company safety procedures.
Maintain accurate records of completed work, inspections, and supply usage when required.
Assist management with scheduling, shift coverage, and special cleaning projects.
Respond professionally to client requests and resolve concerns in a timely manner.
Lead by example by maintaining a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellent customer service.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous custodial or janitorial experience required.
Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, and chemicals.
Ability to safely operate floor care equipment.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, walking, and climbing for extended periods.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Work Environment:
