    Job Description

    1.    SCOPEOFWORK&PURPOSE

    The Contractor shall provide dedicated, senior-level engineering and operational administration for the enterprise Broadcom Automic Workload Automation (UC4) environment. The Contractor is responsible for designing, deploying, automating, and maintainingmission-criticalbatchworkflowsacrosshybridz/OSMainframe,Linux,andWindowsplatforms,ensuringhighreliability and SLA compliance for enterprise business cycles.

     

    2.    DETAILEDTECHNICALRESPONSIBILITIES

    2.1.  Automic(UC4)PlatformEngineering&WorkflowDesign

    • ObjectArchitecture&Design:Build,configure,test,andmaintainenterpriseUC4objectsincludingWorkflows(JOBP),Jobs (JOBS), Static and Dynamic Calendars (CALE), Events (EVNT), Sync objects (SYNC), and dynamic PromptSets.
    • Scripting&LogicAutomation:DevelopandenhanceadvancedAutomicScriptingLanguageroutinestohandleconditional branching, return code validation, runtime variable passing, and dynamic schedule triggering.
    • AgentConfiguration&Health:Configure,patch,monitor,andtroubleshootUC4targetagentsacrossz/OS/MVS,UNIX/Linux, and Windows server environments.
    • AutomationEngineAdministration:MonitorAutomationEngine(AE)performance,manageCommunicationProcesses(CP) and Work Processes (WP), maintain queue health, and perform routine database housekeeping.
    • Transport&ChangeDeployment:Package,validate,andpromoteschedulingobjectsacrossDEV,TEST/QA,andPROD environments using Transport Cases and strict version control.

    2.2.  MainframeBatchSupport&JCL Operations

    • JCLMaintenance&Tuning:Review,optimize,anddebugJobControlLanguage(JCL),PROCs,parameteroverrides,and control cards invoked by Automic batch jobs.
    • JobQueue&SpoolMonitoring:Monitorbatchjobinitiators,executionqueues,andspoolutilizationviaSDSF,JES2,and TSO/ISPF.
    • Cross-PlatformFileTransferScheduling:Configureandmanageworkloadautomationtasksinvolvingcross-platformdata transfers (NDM/Connect:Direct, SFTP) between mainframe and distributed nodes.
    • StorageTeamInterfacing:InterfacedirectlywithMainframeStorageAdministratorstotroubleshootstorage-relatedbatch failures, space abends, and tape mount prerequisites.

    2.3.  ProductionIncidentManagement&AbendResolution

    • AbendInvestigation:ActasTier2/3escalationpointforproductionbatchcycleabends,analyzingUC4tasklogsandz/OSjob outputs concurrently to resolve failures.
    • RootCauseAnalysis(RCA):PerformdetailedtechnicalRCAonrecurringjobcancellations,lockups,andscheduledelays; implement preventative logic within workflows.
    • Early-MorningStabilization:Supportmorningoperationalcheckoutstoensureovernightcriticalpathscompletedsuccessfully prior to business hours.
    • On-CallIncidentTriage:Participateinascheduledon-callrotationtoresolveSev-1/Sev-2batchworkflowhaltsaccordingto defined SLAs.

     

    3.    SECURITY,ACCESS&CHANGEGOVERNANCE

    • PrivilegedAccessCompliance:Operatewithinenterpriseleast-privilegesecuritypoliciesacrossAutomicWebInterface(AWI) user privileges and z/OS access controls.
    • DataIntegrity:Ensurebatchjobsecurityparameters,credentials,andencryptedvariablesaresafeguardedinaccordancewith corporate data protection standards.
    • ITILAlignment:ComplywithenterpriseITILstandardsforIncident,Problem,andChangeManagement(e.g.,ServiceNow); ensure all production schedule modifications have approved change tickets.

     

    4.    QUALIFICATIONS&TECHNICALCOMPETENCIES

    • Experience:Minimum5+yearsdedicatedexperienceadministeringandengineeringBroadcomAutomicAutomation(UC4v12 or higher).
    • SchedulerMastery:DeepexpertiseinAutomicAutomationEngine,AutomicWebInterface(AWI),ScriptingLanguage,agent administration, and Transport Cases.
    • MainframeCompetency:Solidworkingproficiencyinz/OSJCL,TSO/ISPF,SDSF,JES2commands,andstandardIBMbatch utilities.
    • Cross-PlatformOperations:FamiliaritywithUNIX/Linuxshellscripting,Windowsbatch/PowerShell,anddistributedOSagent troubleshooting.
    •    ProcessDiscipline:WorkingexperienceinenterpriseenvironmentsutilizingITILincidentandchangeworkflows.
