Job Title: Workshop Facilitator – Skilled Trades (Part-Time)

Craft Specialties: Electrical, Plumbing, or Carpentry (Apply for one, two, or all three)

Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (2-day workshops, running 3 times between August and November)

Location: Nashville, Tennessee

Position Overview

We are seeking knowledgeable, hands-on instructors to facilitate short-term, practical workshops in Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry. Our goal is to give participants a solid, real-world introduction to these fundamental trades.

Each craft curriculum is structured as an intensive, 2-day workshop. We are running a total of three workshop series between August and November.

Note: You do not need to be a master of all three trades to apply. If you are an expert in just one of these fields, we want to hear from you!

Workshop Structure & Schedule

  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM per workshop day (includes half-hour unpaid lunch and breaks).

  • Duration: 2 consecutive days per workshop.

  • Frequency: The 2-day workshops for each craft will repeat 3 times across the fall season (August through November).

  • Flexibility: Schedule details and specific dates for each trade will be finalized based on facilitator availability and enrollment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Hands-On Instruction: Lead participants through practical, introductory projects (e.g., basic framing for carpentry, simple circuit wiring for electrical, or pipe fitting/valve installation for plumbing).

  • Prioritize Safety: Demonstrate, enforce, and maintain strict workshop safety protocols, including correct tool usage and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance.

  • Engage Learners: Foster an encouraging, accessible environment for beginners or individuals looking to build fundamental trade skills.

  • Prep & Pack Down: Set up training materials and tools before 7:00 AM and ensure the workshop space is clean and organized at the end of the day.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Trade Expertise: Proven professional experience or formal training in at least one of the target fields:

    • Carpentry: Layout, measuring, cutting, hand/power tools, basic framing.

    • Electrical: Basic circuitry, outlets, switches, safety protocols, reading simple schematics.

    • Plumbing: Pipe materials (PEX, PVC, Copper), fittings, basic residential fixtures, leak troubleshooting.

  • Teaching/Mentoring Mentality: Prior experience as a trainer, foreman, teacher, or mentor is highly valued, though a passion for sharing your craft with beginners is most critical.

  • Reliability: Ability to commit to the full 2-day duration of your scheduled workshops and arrive promptly for the 7:00 AM start.

  • Communication: Clear, patient communication style to break down technical steps for beginners.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume or a brief summary of your trade experience to fred@skilledworkforce.com.
