Hours: 7:30am-4:45pm + some out of school time responsibilities
Compensation: $52,000-$90,000 (Please note that this is a general range; salaries are determined based on credentials and years of experience)

Position Summary
Classical Charter Schools is seeking an experienced world language educator to join our team as a World Language & Debate Teacher.
Prior experience teaching Latin is not required. We welcome educators with experience teaching any world language—including Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin/Chinese, German, Portuguese, Arabic, and others—who are excited to apply their language-teaching expertise to our Latin curriculum.
The strongest candidates will bring a solid understanding of language acquisition, grammar, vocabulary development, and effective language instruction. Classical will provide the curriculum, resources, coaching, and support needed to successfully teach Latin.

Curriculum & Instruction
- Study, practice, and deliver rigorous lessons that enable scholars to master daily objectives using Classical’s established curriculum.
- Lead instruction across multiple grade levels in Latin and Debate.
- Apply effective world language teaching practices—including vocabulary development, grammar instruction, reading comprehension, language structure, and student engagement—to the teaching of Latin.
- Learn and develop proficiency with Classical’s Latin curriculum with support from instructional coaches and provided resources.
- Revise and strengthen lessons for clarity, rigor, and relevance with guidance from instructional coaches.
- Lead scholars toward strong academic growth and mastery of grade-level expectations.
Data Analysis
- Collecting and analyzing academic and behavior data to pinpoint scholar needs
- Collaborating in teams and with coaches to resolve challenges and implement instructional improvements driven by quantitative and qualitative data
Culture
- Establishing and maintaining a highly structured classroom culture where scholars demonstrate respect, responsibility, caring, trustworthiness, fairness, and citizenship
- Building positive and empowering relationships with scholars to create a warm and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and joy daily
- Partnering with colleagues and scholars’ families to communicate progress towards goals and celebrating successes
Qualifications
- Latin teaching experience, coursework, or prior proficiency is not required.
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree required.
- Experience teaching a world language, such as Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin/Chinese, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Latin, or another language.
- Strong understanding of language instruction, including grammar, vocabulary development, reading, and language acquisition.
- New York State certification in a world language, Middle School Teacher Education, Adolescent Education, or another relevant certification is preferred but not required.
- At least three years of teaching experience preferred.
- Experience teaching in a high-performing charter school or similarly rigorous academic environment is preferred.
