Location:Curtis Middle School

Position Summary:

Ephraim Curtis Middle School is seeking a qualified World Language Teacher to work with grades 6-8 in developing competencies, knowledge, and skills comprehending, speaking, reading and writing.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Teach skills and knowledge in the instruction of Spanish to middle school students through appropriate learning activities;
• Develop lesson plans including supplementary materials and participate in curriculum and other developmental programs;
• Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;
• Develop student understanding and appreciation of the culture of countries where Spanish/French is spoken;
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needs to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment;
• Communicate with parents and school counselors on students' progress;
• Collaborate with other World Language colleagues to plan for, develop, and implement common assessments;
• Collaborate with other World Language colleagues to refine the Scope and Sequence for grades 6, 7, and 8 Spanish;
• Ensure consistent and fluid transition of curriculum and instruction from grade 5 and into grade 9;
• Foster student interest in and understanding of the Spanish language;
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.

Classification: SEA Unit Position Salary: Commensurate with education and experience based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. Ranges from B to M+60 Approx: $57,600-$127,400

Work Year: 1.0 FTE (183 day school year)

Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI and fingerprinting clearance. All finalists will be required to provide official transcripts.
