___ _ ___ DEFINITION/DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF JOB: Electrical Instrumentation II will be under direct supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent. This person will be responsible for the Process Control / SCADA / PLC) with Sewer Stations:

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Level sensors (ultrasonic, pressure transducers, floats)
• Flow monitoring equipment
• Pump status and feedback signals (run, fault, amps)
• Wet well level control systems
• Troubleshoot pump sequencing logic (lead/lag/alternation)
• Maintain control panels, starters, and VFDs (variable frequency drives)
• Diagnosing issues like pumps not starting, short cycling, or overload trips
• Update or support PLC programs for station automation
• Ensure reliable communication between stations and the control room
• Configure and troubleshoot telemetry systems (radio, cellular, fiber, or Ethernet)
• Maintain alarm systems (high level, pump failure, power loss)
• Validate real -time data accuracy from remote sites
• Troubleshoot protocols like Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP
• Work with radios, antennas, cellular modems, and network switches
• Diagnose signal loss, latency, or intermittent data issues
• Coordinate with IT or network teams when needed
• Routine inspection and calibration of sensors
• Testing backup systems (generators, alarms)
• Verifying pump rotation and controlling logic
• Cleaning or replacing fouled instruments
• Maintain and test generators and transfer switches
• Ensure SCADA and controls stay online during outages
• Diagnose power -related faults affecting instrumentation and PLCs

Emergency Response & On -Call Work

• Sewer stations are critical failures that can cause overflows:
• Respond to alarms like high wet well level or pump failure
• Quickly diagnose whether the issue is mechanical, electrical, or control -related
• Restore operation to prevent sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs)

Training and Experience:

• High School Diploma or valid General Equivalent Diploma issued by the State Department of Education
• Three (3) or more years of wastewater/sewer station experience
• Level two (2) certification in wastewater treatment Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of Instrumentation safety practices and regulations
• Troubleshooting methods for instrumentation systems
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and instrument loop diagrams
• Use test instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and calibrators
• Diagnose and solve instrumentation -related faults efficiently
• Evaluate instrument performance and measurement accuracy LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
• Possess a valid State of Louisiana Drivers License
• Required to have wastewater/collections certifications
