Title Writing Fellow Position Description

BSU's English department is looking for writing fellows to supports students in Enhanced ENGL 101 classes. Fellows will meet one-on-one with ENGL 101E students in the AAC, every week, typically for the following purposes:

• to support them, if needed, in interpreting the writing prompt / criteria
• to ask questions prompting them to plan and further develop and organize ideas
• to give them feedback on their writing-with the primary goal of fostering their develop as writers (as opposed to maximizing their grade on the paper at hand, which is a secondary goal)

• Excellent writing skills
• Openness to receiving constructive criticism
• Eagerness to work in a team environment
• Eagerness to take initiative
• Ability to "meet students where they are" rather than seeing them as deficient.
