Connected Health Care, a premier recruitment and staffing firm, is partnering with a respected healthcare client in San Jose, California to recruit an experienced X-Ray & Mammography Technologist for a 13-week local travel assignment. Candidates with additional CT experience are highly encouraged to apply, though CT certification and responsibilities are optional for this position.
X-Ray & Mammography Technologist Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic radiographic and mammography examinations according to physician orders and established protocols
- Ensure accurate patient positioning and image acquisition while maintaining patient comfort and safety
- Operate and maintain radiographic and mammography imaging equipment
- Adhere to all radiation safety guidelines and departmental procedures
- Perform quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) activities to maintain imaging excellence
- Maintain compliance with Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations
- Review imaging studies for quality and completeness prior to submission
- Document procedures accurately within the electronic medical record system
- Educate patients regarding imaging procedures and answer questions to ease concerns
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members
- Assist with additional imaging modalities based on departmental needs and qualifications
- Support a positive patient experience through exceptional customer service and compassionate care
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of Mammography experience
- Strong knowledge of mammography procedures, positioning techniques, and breast imaging protocols
- Experience with QA, QC, and MQSA standards preferred
- Ability to work independently while maintaining exceptional patient care standards
- Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
- Additional imaging specialties preferred
- CT experience preferred but not required
Education Requirements
- Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved school
Certification & License Requirements
- Current California Basic Life Support (CPR-BLS) Certification
- Current California State Radiologic Technologist Certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch (CDPH RHB-CRT)
- Current California State Mammography Permit issued by the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch (CDPH RHB-CRT Mammography)
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registration in Radiography (ARRT-R)
- Current ARRT Mammography Certification
- Fluoroscopy/X-Ray Mammography Certification
- ARRT Mammography certification and/or completion of 40 hours of mammography training meeting MQSA requirements
- Documentation of 25 mammography examinations performed under direct supervision of an MQSA-qualified individual preferred
- Minimum of 8 hours of training on the mammography modality utilized by the facility prior to independent operation
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of breast anatomy and physiology
- Experience imaging patients with breast implants
- Experience with digital mammography systems
- Familiarity with MQSA compliance standards and documentation
- Additional advanced imaging certifications considered a plus
