X‑Ray Technologist – Outpatient Radiology Department

Position Summary

The X‑ray Technologist is responsible for performing high‑quality diagnostic radiographic exams in a fast‑paced outpatient setting. This role supports patient care by producing accurate images, maintaining safety standards, and delivering an exceptional patient experience. The technologist works collaboratively with radiologists, providers, and clinical staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely imaging services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic exams — Produce high‑quality X‑ray images following established protocols and ALARA principles.
  • Prepare and position patients — Ensure proper alignment, comfort, and safety for each exam.
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment — Conduct daily QA/QC checks and report equipment issues promptly.
  • Verify patient identity and orders — Confirm exam accuracy and document required clinical information.
  • Ensure radiation safety — Follow shielding, exposure, and regulatory guidelines for patients and staff.
  • Support outpatient workflow — Assist with scheduling, room turnover, and exam prioritization.
  • Provide compassionate patient care — Educate patients, address concerns, and maintain a professional, calming environment.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and clinical teams — Communicate findings, technical issues, and exam details as needed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Current ARRT(R) certification and state licensure (Texas MRT).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical radiography experience; outpatient experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of radiographic positioning, radiation safety, and image quality standards.
  • Excellent communication, patient‑care, and teamwork skills.

Work Environment

  • Outpatient radiology center with scheduled daytime hours.
  • No nights, major holidays, or on‑call requirements.
