Job Location: Commonwealth Health Physician Network

Position Purpose

Near graduate or graduate radiographers must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.  Near graduate or graduate radiographers must maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique. He or she must maintain knowledge about radiation protection and safety.  Near graduate or graduate radiographers prepare for and assist the Radiologist in the completion of radiographic examinations. Under the guidance of registered radiologic technologist or physician, they prepare contrast media and medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.  Near graduate or graduate radiographers must remain sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring and patient care skills.  Near graduate or graduate radiographers must use professional and ethical judgment, as well as critical thinking when performing their duties. Quality improvement and customer service allows the near graduate or graduate radiographers to be a responsible member of the health care team by continually assessing professional performance.  Near graduate or graduate radiographers embrace continuing education for optimal patient care, public education and enhanced knowledge and technical competence.

Position Qualifications

Education:

Graduate or near graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Sciences / registry in Radiologic Technology required within three (3) months after meeting all registry requirements post graduate.

Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes

Clinical experience in all areas of radiology, including routine radiography, fluoroscopy, emergency room procedures, and operating room procedures.   Technical expertise, knowledge of anatomy, safety conscious, manual dexterity, clerical accuracy, verbal ability.

Licenses/Certificates:

Must be ARRT registered

BLS required; must be completed by end of orientation period
