Positioning Patients: Properly positioning patients to obtain clear and accurate images while minimizing discomfort and invasiveness.
Operating Imaging Equipment: Effectively using X-ray machinery and ensuring it is functioning properly, including routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
Ensuring Safety: Implementing safety protocols to protect patients, themselves, and other staff from unnecessary radiation exposure, including the use of lead shields and monitoring exposure levels.
Image Quality Assessment: Evaluating obtained images for clarity and accuracy, repeating images if necessary to ensure diagnostic quality.
Documentation: Accurately documenting the procedures performed and maintaining patient records, along with ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards regarding patient privacy (HIPAA).
Collaboration with Medical Staff: Working closely with orthopedic surgeons and other healthcare providers to discuss findings and assist in interpreting the images.
Patient Follow-Up: Providing patients with aftercare instructions, including any necessary preparations for further imaging or treatment.
Equipment Sterilization and Maintenance: Ensuring that imaging equipment is adequately cleaned, sterilized, and maintained, and reporting any malfunctions as needed.
