Y's Kids After School Educator (3pm-6pm)

Location: Salina, KS 67401

Position Overview

The Y's Kids After School Educator is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children in the Y's Kids after school program. This role involves supervising and guiding children ages 5-12 during the after school hours from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, facilitating educational and recreational activities that promote social, emotional, and physical development.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety of children during after school program hours.
• Providing nutritional snacks.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities including homework help, arts and crafts, games, and physical activities.
• Encourage positive social interactions and foster a supportive group environment.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and Y staff regarding program activities and child progress.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
• Follow all Y policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
• Assist with attendance tracking and reporting as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Students / High school diploma or equivalent required. 
• Experience working with children in a group setting preferred.
• 16 years and older.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage children in a positive and energetic manner.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Ability to pass background checks and comply with all Y safety standards.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
