Job Title: Yard Inspector (Scrap Metal)
Pay & Benefits: $17.50/hour • 1st shift schedule • Contract-to-hire • Training provided • Safety gear provided on site (hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses). This is an active, steady role with a long-established scrap and recycling operation.
Hours & Location: Cleveland, OH 44105 • Monday–Friday 7:00am–3:30pm • 30-minute lunch
If you like hands-on work where the day moves fast, this job keeps you on your feet and outside. You’ll help keep inbound scrap flowing safely and correctly by inspecting loads, grading material, and communicating with truck drivers and the yard team.
Job Responsibilities:
Inspect incoming scrap materials (steel sheet, castings, and similar ferrous metals)
Determine quality and grade, and reject non-conforming material when needed
Direct inbound trucks on where to unload and keep traffic moving safely
Complete inspection tickets and verify driver paperwork
Follow environmental and yard safety guidelines throughout the shift
Required Qualifications:
Comfortable working outdoors in the elements
Ability to stand/walk the full shift, bend, and stay active
Able to lift up to 60 lbs
Strong communication skills (you’ll interact with drivers and internal staff)
Reliable attendance and attention to detail for inspection paperwork
Dress Code & PPE:
Long sleeve shirt, jeans/work pants, steel-toe boots
Hard hat/vest/safety glasses provided on site
