Job Title: Yard Jockey (Atlanta, GA)
Pay Rate: $23.00–$25.00/hour
Location: Atlanta, GA
Schedule: Shift - 3pm - 11pm Mon-Fri
About the Role
As a Yard Jockey, you’ll play a key role in keeping freight moving safely and efficiently. You’ll operate within yard and transportation requirements, help secure loads properly, and maintain accurate trip records. You’ll also support safety by completing required checks and using transportation technology such as GPS and transportation management software. You will stay within a few mile radius of Fulton Industrial Blvd only.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver freight safely and efficiently in accordance with yard/transportation requirements
- Secure freight before leaving to help prevent damage and ensure safe transport
- Inspect the vehicle before each trip and complete required checks
- Log trip details accurately, including driving time, breaks, mileage, and expenses
- Obey all applicable traffic laws while operating the vehicle
- Perform vehicle maintenance tasks as needed to support safe operations
- Report issues professionally involving freight, the vehicle, and/or travel
Key Requirements
- CDL Class A
- Clean MVR with no violations or citations (personal or commercial)
- On-hand copy of MVR dating back 3 years
- Valid DOT medical card
- Clean Clearinghouse record
- Minimum 2 years of OTR driving experience
- Familiarity with trucking regulations and laws
- Strong driving skills, alertness, and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable using technology such as GPS and transportation management software
