Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday 4:00pm-12:00am

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yard Jockey / Switcher to join our team. The Yard Jockey is responsible for moving trailers safely throughout the yard, positioning trailers at loading docks, and ensuring efficient trailer flow to support warehouse operations. The ideal candidate has experience operating a yard truck (Ottawa/Terminal Tractor), works well in a fast-paced environment, and prioritizes safety.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers to and from dock doors, parking areas, and designated yard locations.
• Perform trailer spotting and switching operations in a safe and timely manner.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard trucks and trailers.
• Inspect trailers for visible damage and report maintenance issues.
• Maintain accurate trailer inventory and location records.
• Communicate with warehouse personnel, dispatch, and supervisors regarding trailer movements.
• Ensure trailers are properly secured before movement.
• Keep the yard organized and free of hazards.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Yard Jockey, Yard Switcher, Spotter, or CDL Driver preferred.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred (or required if applicable).
• Experience operating a terminal tractor or Ottawa yard truck.
• Ability to safely back trailers into loading docks.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb in and out of equipment frequently.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
