At Milton CAT, Yard Service Technicians play a key role in ensuring machines are fully prepared, configured, and ready for customer use-while supporting day-to-day yard operations.
This is a hands-on role where you'll apply your mechanical skills while building experience that supports long-term growth within our service team.
Where You'll Make an Impact
Support Equipment Set-Up & Inspection
Assist with configuring, preparing, and checking equipment prior to delivery
Perform basic mechanical adjustments and inspections
Help ensure machines meet quality and readiness standards
Work Hands-On with Heavy Equipment
Gain experience with excavators, dozers, loaders, and attachments
Apply mechanical skills in a real-world service environment
Build familiarity across a wide range of equipment
Support Yard & Equipment Operations
Move, stage, and organize equipment within the yard
Contribute to efficient equipment flow and readiness
Support both service and customer needs
A Role with Variety
Balance yard operations with light mechanical work

Milton CAT is the Caterpillar Dealer for the Northeast region of the United States. Our territory includes Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and upstate New York.
We are a private company, founded in 1960, owned by the family who started the business fifty years ago. Since those early days, Milton CAT has grown to 12 locations, and over 1,000 employees. The company has two main divisions; Earthmoving and Power Systems.
The Earthmoving Division sells, rents and supports machinery and work tools for segments that include the construction, landscaping, forestry, mining, quarry, crushing and screening and municipal sectors.
The Power Systems Division sells, rents and supports power generators and air compressors, and has a specialized engineering group that develops customized power systems. Those Milton CAT locations close to water have a marine focus; an industrial group markets engines to manufacturers to power their own machines and the on-highway truck engine business is an important component for all our locations. Our Power Systems service technicians also work on bus and mobile home engines and they support natural gas distribution working at pipeline compressor stations.
