Yard workers are a crucial member of the Star Nursery team. It is their duty to maintain the upkeep and staging of plant material at the store. Some of their duties include offloading material from trucks, stocking them where they belong and performing general care for the plants while maintaining safe working conditions. The yard team is normally at the store early in the morning so that they are ready when the trucks come in.
Job Description:
Follows operations standards for safe operations, quality control, loss prevention,and plant care.
Follows policies in the areas of operations techniques, materials usage.
Loading and unloading plant material
Operating a forklift
Product quality control
Plant maintenance (watering, cleaning, pruning)
Stocking & Labeling
Store upkeep
Receiving, Stocking & Moving Merchandise
Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills:
Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan in short/ long term ranges
The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
Problem solving and problem resolution.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong team player
Commitment to company values
Ability to follow directions as well as work independently to achieve goals and complete assigned tasks
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
Forklift experience (will train and in- house Certify for 18+ years of age)
Qualifications:
Honest and hard working
Must be able to work long hours (seasonal overtime available) in all types of weather conditions
Must be able to lift & move plant material
Must be able to pass a drug test (safety sensitive position)
