Job Description

Position Summary:

The Program Director will lead and manage the daily operations of Out of School Time Programs. The individual in this position is responsible for overall operations management of multiple Before and After School locations, as well as summer camp programs within Broward County. This role is responsible for developing engaging curriculum, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with safety, licensing, BASCC, and CSC requirements, as well as fostering a positive, inclusive environment for all participants.

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Oversee, manage, and execute the participant enrollment processes for all programs.
  • Ensure that participant files are compliantly collected and reported by the deadline.
  • Ensure program retention and growth of participants by proactively recruiting participants and conducting engagement surveys. Meets assigned attendance goals for all programs.
  • Develop and maintain regular communication and positive relationships with school administrators and school representatives. Communicate regularly with families about program activities and student progress.
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and community partners to support student success as well as develop strong partnerships. (Attend School SAC meetings, school events, etc.)
  • Implement and maintain established Program Quality Standards at program locations and participate in the development of these standards.
  • Provides daily supervision of all part time staff in Afterschool and Camp programs.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff ensuring program sites are fully staffed based on ratio, providing quality program and providing safe environment.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor staff training plan with YD Senior leadership. Ensure staff complete yearly training required.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and professional development sessions to ensure clear communication of program expectations and deliverables.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections for program quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records including attendance, incident reports, behavior reports, and evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with all State and local agencies including licensing, and other regulatory bodies such as DCF, CSC, and BASCC. Prepare and participate for all site monitoring’s to meet program compliance. Achieve passing inspections for CSC, BASCC, and DCF.
  • Attend all required departmental meetings and training.
  • Monitor, manage, and effectively control Program site bi-weekly payroll.
  • Assist with curriculum development and implementation. Ensure all grant outcomes are met, and Service Delivery Components are provided (Homework, Reading, PBL, Fitness, Nutrition, SEL, Family Engagement).
  • Monitor and control daily/weekly nutrition counts by working together with cafeteria Staff or assigned caterer.
  • Responsible for fundraising during Annual Y Campaign.
  • Any additional responsibilities established by Supervisor.

Time Management:

  • 25% - Student Engagement & Oversight- Interacting with participants, ensuring safety, managing behavior.
  • 20% - Program Planning and Development- Designing curriculum, scheduling activities, and coordinating events.
  • 20% - Staff Supervision and Training – hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating staff.
  • 20% - Administrative tasks – Payroll, attendance tracking, site management, Parent & Community Communication
  • 15% - Compliance & Reporting- Licensing, grant reporting, documentation, policy adherence

Position Expectations:

Ensures the team meets/exceed sales, revenue targets, net unit growth every month.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities / Position Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in education, or related field, or 60 hours of college equivalent or CDA required.
  • Director’s Credential required within 18 months of hire.
  • Minimum one year of experience managing youth development programs and three years of experience working directly with youth in organized out-of-school-time settings.
  • Strong administrative role in the day-to-day leadership and supervision of all sites.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound fiscal management practices, strong organizational abilities and problem-solving strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership through experiences in supervision, community collaboration and innovation.
  • Ability to adequately observe program activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
  • Bilingual, English, Spanish and Creole preferred.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions.
  • Will be required to drive often for meetings and other work-related duties.
