Hadco Construction is seeking a skilled Yellow-Iron Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently.
What You'll Do
Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, etc.)
Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and adjustments to extend equipment life
Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Complete work orders and maintain accurate service records
Operate equipment to test functionality after repairs
Assist with field service calls when equipment issues arise on job sites
Follow company and OSHA safety procedures at all times
What We're Looking For
3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment/yellow-iron mechanic
Strong knowledge of hydraulics, engines, transmissions, and electrical systems
Ability to read and interpret service manuals, diagrams, and technical documents
Experience with diagnostic tools and computerized systems preferred
Welding and fabrication skills a plus
Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required)
Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Regular lifting, carrying, and handling of parts and tools weighing 50+ lbs.
Frequent bending, kneeling, and climbing on/off equipment
Work performed in both shop and outdoor environments, exposed to weather and construction site conditions
Noise, grease, fumes, and heavy machinery exposure are part of daily work conditions
