Job Title: Young Adult Program Teacher
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Length of Position: 185 Days
Teacher Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Collaborate and implement lesson plans, instructional activities, and skill-based curriculum.
- Provide academic and life skill instruction appropriate to each student's IEP.
- Integrate job readiness and independence goals into the daily program.
Supervision and Direction
- Provide daily plans, clear task assignments, and expectations to job coaches.
- Lead communication regarding student progress, safety, and program needs.
- Coordinate with job sites, transportation, and community partners.
Team Leadership and Professionalism
- Set and model expectations for professionalism, confidentiality, and respectful interactions.
- Ensure equitable information-sharing with all job coaches - no one should be left out and no one should be given priority information that others don't have.
- Resolve scheduling and coverage concerns and communicate daily absences or changes.
- Be fully present and engaged with students during instructional and jobsite times.
- Minimize phone use to essential communication only, and model expected student behavior.
- Uphold confidentiality, safety, and respectful interactions at all times.
- Supervise and ensure that end-of-day planning time is used effectively, with clear task assignments and priorities for support staff.
Parent/Guardian Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for all parent communication.
- Use approved platforms (e.g., Remind) to maintain professional boundaries.
