POSITION

Livonia Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified Young Fives Kindergarten Paraprofessional who is responsible for a variety of duties in supporting student needs in the classroom. The Young Fives Kindergarten Paraprofessional works closely with the classroom teacher and other professional staff to assist in a multitude of activities to ensure student achievement.

DISTRICT OVERVIEW:

Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving approximately 13,100 students pre-K post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center, and 1 vocational and transition center in the school district. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $180 million, with a state funding of $10,000 per pupil.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The following is a list of minimum qualifications for this position, any one of which may be waived by the Administration in exercising its prerogative to determine qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, CDA, or Meet the "highly qualified" standard

  • Complete equivalent of at least two years college or minimum associates

  • Pass the "Work Keys" assessment

  • A passionate commitment to working with students

  • Knowledge of Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold is preferred

  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal relationships

  • Evidence of ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Possess a high level of professionalism

  • Exemplary organizational skills

MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibits a commitment to the District's Shared Vision and Collective Commitments
  • Creates a welcoming and positive classroom culture and climate
  • Works collaboratively and in close cooperation with the Young 5's teacher
  • Provides effective group and individualized instructional support based on the elements of effective early childhood instruction
  • Uses appropriate motivational and classroom/behavior management for the age and skill ability level of the students
  • Implements daily activities consistent with an understanding of the developmental needs of the students
  • Utilizes patience, excellent professional judgment and flexibility in dealing with students
  • Performs other duties as assigned

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The work year, salary, and fringe benefits will be consistent with the current agreement between the Board of Education and the Livonia Paraprofessional Association. This position will remain open minimally through June 19, 2026 for consideration of employment for the 26-27 school year.
