    Job Description

    Youth Apprenticeship is a work-based learning experience for high school juniors and seniors. Students get paid, hands-on learning experiences in Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development approved career clusters where they can enhance their learning between school and the workplace.

    Students enrolled in Bay Port's Youth Apprenticeship program will learn and apply workplace skills with local employer mentors to earn money while learning applicable skills.

    The ultimate goal is to become college and career ready while encompassing the HSSD Graduate Profile.

    Students can earn up to two credits during their junior year and two credits during their senior year by working 450 hours per year in an approved Youth Apprenticeship position. Students can work during summer and the school year to accumulate 450 hours. Credit amount will be determined by hours, performance, attendance, and participation and communication with the Youth Apprenticeship coach.

    Available YA vacancies for 2026-27 are Teacher Assistant and Print Center Assistant.

    The Teacher Assistant position(s) will be responsible for performing a variety of non-teaching classroom support as directed under the supervision of an assigned teacher. This position is considered part-time and will work with candidates'' class schedule.

    Some of the essential functions of the job are but not limited to:

    Works with small groups and/or individual students.

    Helps students with remedial and/or enrichment activities under the direction of the teacher.

    Reinforces instructional objectives introduced by the teacher.

    Responds to student requests for assistance.

    Assists with non-classroom activities as directed (e.g., arrival/departure, lunch, recess, field trips, library, computer lab, etc.).

    Supports an inclusive educational environment.

    Helps students with disabilities participate in appropriate learning activities as directed.

    Print Center Assistant will be under the direction of the Print Center Supervisor and responsible for for performing a variety of print and finishing operations. This position is considered part-time and will work with candidates'' class schedule.

    Some of the essential functions of the job are but not limited to:

    Set up and operate various printing machines (photocopiers, scanners, etc.).

    Adjust machine settings for specific jobs (speed, ink, etc.).

    Load paper and other printing materials.

    Monitor printing processes and make adjustments as needed.

    Sort, assemble, and verify the accuracy of finished printed materials.

    Clean and perform minor maintenance on printing equipment.

    Operate auxiliary finishing machines (collators, staplers, folders, etc.).
