As a School-Based Youth Apprenticeship Coach, you will work closely with the NEWYA team to implement and grow the Youth Apprenticeship (YA) program within assigned school districts throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

This position serves as the primary connection between students, schools, employers, and families, helping students successfully navigate their career exploration journey while ensuring high-quality program implementation.

The School-Based Youth Apprenticeship Coach is more than a program coordinator; they are a mentor, career coach, and trusted resource who help students identify career interests, explore career pathways, develop workplace-readiness skills, and connect with meaningful employment experiences that align with their future goals. Through relationship-building, coaching, and collaboration, this position plays a vital role in preparing students for successful careers while strengthening partnerships between education and industry.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and identify students who may benefit from the Youth Apprenticeship program.
  • Deliver engaging presentations and informational meetings for students, parents, school staff, employers, and community organizations to promote Youth Apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Guide students through career exploration by helping them identify career interests, educational pathways, and employment opportunities that align with their goals.
  • Coach students in professional skills including resume development, interviewing, workplace expectations, communication, and career decision-making.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, school counselors, teachers, administrators, employers, mentors, and community partners.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between assigned schools and the NEWYA staff.
  • Collaborate with the NEWYA staff to identify employer partners and develop meaningful student employment opportunities.
  • Assess student readiness and determine each student''s ability to successfully participate in the Youth Apprenticeship program.
  • Integrate Youth Apprenticeship into each student''s overall educational and career plan.
  • Collaborate with school counselors to ensure students are enrolled in appropriate related instruction and school program requirements.
  • Ensure all required Youth Apprenticeship documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Maintain regular communication with schools and the NEWYA staff regarding student progress, concerns, and successes.
  • Provide bi-weekly updates identifying students who may need additional academic, attendance, behavioral, or workplace support.
  • Represent the Youth Apprenticeship program with professionalism while fostering strong partnerships between education, business, and industry.
  • Local travel may be required.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Bachelor''s degree required. An educational background or experience in student advising, career development, workforce development, counseling, or education is preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to engage students, parents, educators, employers, and community partners.
  • Passion for helping students explore careers and successfully transition from education into the workforce.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students while serving as a trusted mentor, coach, and advocate throughout their career journey.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Strong technology skills using Google Workspace and web-based information systems.
  • Valid driver''s license and the ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned service area.
