Youth Camps Assistant Instructor
Salary: $20/hr per instruction hour
Location: Lynnwood, Washington
Description: Are you passionate about the future of STEM? Edmonds College is seeking subject matter experts to inspire the next generation of tech professionals and hobbyists alike.
In partnership with Black Rocket Productions and our Continuing Education department, we are looking for enthusiastic Instructors to assist in teaching youth-based camps (topics including Roblox, Minecraft, Coding) for the general community.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist campers (ages 8–15) with coding, 3D modeling, and game design hurdles in Roblox, Minecraft, and Creative Suites.
- Manage hardware setup, software logins, and digital project saving for up to 22 students.
- Partner with the Lead Instructor to deliver Black Rocket curriculum and facilitate small-group breakout sessions.
- Adapt technical concepts for different skill levels to ensure every student completes their project.
- Maintain high "camp spirit" and keep students focused and motivated during 3-hour sessions.
- Monitor group dynamics and safety during transitions between morning and afternoon blocks.

Required Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- College students studying education, computer science, digital arts, information technology, or in similar fields are encouraged to apply.
- Those with strong tech or digital arts and troubleshooting skills will be most successful in this position
- Experience with kids in a formal or informal setting is a plus, such as babysitting, volunteering, coaching, tutoring, etc.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with children is preferred, but not required
- Teaching or classroom management experience is preferred, but not required
- Fine Arts or Technology-based field of study preferred, but not required
Physical Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in a classroom setting if the course is in person. Your work environment is directly tied to the nature of your class.
Work Schedule:
- 9:00 am until 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm (Monday-Friday)
- July 13th through July 31st, and August 3rd through August 21st (6 weeks)
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.
- Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check, including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
- All new positions are contingent upon funding.
