Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health agencies. Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and safeTALK. Members will coordinate ASIST, SOS and safeTALK trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho. The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
Member Duties : The Youth Center Aide will expand and enhance the capacity of existing public health programs and services by supporting the overall well-being of youth in the program through mentorship, identifying and seeking resources for youth in need, doing outreach and building partnerships with local middle and high school counselors, and helping with overall program development. Duties include: coordinating mentorship programs, and supporting youth academic success; helping seek out program expansion with other STEAM-related skillsets and community leaders; providing engaging and inclusive youth peer activities in a welcoming environment; assisting in providing life skills training, supporting mental health and wellness initiatives and planning youth activities; assisting with increasing organizational capacity, and program growth; helping coordinate, plan and teach STEAM-related youth-based community projects, while modeling quality leadership skillsets, and emotional regulation tactics.
