The Elkhorn Youth Cheer Program is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and positive coaches who are passionate about working with young athletes. Coaches play a vital role in teaching cheerleading fundamentals while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead organized, age-appropriate cheer practices.
- Teach proper cheer motions, jumps, sideline cheers, basic stunts (when appropriate), and routine choreography.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture.
- Promote good sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork among athletes.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during practices, games, and events.
- Communicate effectively with parents, athletes, and program leadership.
- Attend scheduled practices, football games, performances, and competitions.
- Assist with choreography and preparation for performances or competitions, if applicable.
- Follow all Elkhorn Youth Cheer Program policies, safety guidelines, and code of conduct.
- Serve as a positive role model both on and off the field.
Qualifications
- Experience in cheerleading, dance, gymnastics, coaching, or a related activity preferred.
- Enjoy working with children of various ages and skill levels.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude with the ability to motivate and encourage young athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with fellow coaches and program volunteers.
- Must successfully complete any required background screening.
Time Commitment
- Attend all scheduled practices throughout the season.
- Coach at weekly football games and any scheduled performances for sideline season and coach at competitions or scheduled performances during competition season.
- Participate in coaches'' meetings, clinics, program fundraisers and program events as needed.
