SUMMARY

The Youth Development and Enrichment Site Lead plays a vital role in advancing Community Education's mission by leading the coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of site-based enrichment programming within a secondary setting. This position serves as the primary connector between students, school staff, families, and community partners, creating a dynamic, student-centered environment that fosters academic success, social-emotional growth, and leadership development. Ideal for individuals passionate about youth engagement and relationship-building, this role also supports Community Education summer programming by leading enrichment classes and working directly with youth.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate site-based youth development and enrichment programs aligned with Community Education goals.
• Oversee daily OST program operations, including registration, attendance tracking, course adjustments, and snack distribution.
• Coordinate diverse enrichment opportunities, including student-led and interest-based programming.
• Ensure programming reflects student voice, promotes creativity, and supports academic and social success.
• Build strong relationships with students to foster belonging, engagement, and leadership.
• Create and maintain a safe, inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported.
• Encourage youth voice, choice, and shared leadership in program design and implementation.
• Support the development of life-long learning skills and responsible decision-making.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for Community Education programming at the site.
• Collaborate with school administration, Activities Director, staff, vendors, and community partners to align and expand programming.
• Strengthen family-school-community connections through effective communication and engagement.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and program data; support evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.
• Establish effective communication with students, families, staff, and partners while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
• Ensure compliance with district policies and procedures; attend required meetings, trainings, and perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMER PROGRAMMING RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate summer enrichment classes while working directly with students in a classroom or program setting.
• Build positive relationships with students and create a safe, inclusive environment that supports diverse needs, interests, and abilities.
• Collaborate with staff and communicate with families while upholding district policies, safety procedures, and expectations for student conduct.

QUALIFICATIONS

60 college credits and 3 years' experience working in education, youth development or related field OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

• Demonstrated experience working with youth ages 1318 in group settings.
• Experience in program coordination, student group facilitation, or youth leadership development.
• Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution and crisis management.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and working with diverse populations, including multicultural, gender-inclusive, and disability-aware practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working in a secondary (middle or high school) setting.
• Familiarity with OST program evaluation tools and data-driven decision-making.
• Experience designing engaging, creative enrichment opportunities.
• Experience co-creating programs with youth input and leadership.

KNOWLEDGE OF

• Youth development principles and best practices for adolescent engagement
• Out-of-school time (OST) programming models and enrichment strategies
• Cultural competency and inclusive practices in diverse urban school environments
• School systems, community resources, and family engagement strategies
• Basic data tracking, reporting, and program evaluation methods

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A valid Minnesota State Driver's License may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work and heavy phone usage.
