As a Youth Facility Security Officer - Entry Authorization in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. At a government juvenile justice location, you will help manage access control, verify credentials, and monitor entry points while supporting security-related operations with professionalism and strong communication. This role offers the chance to stay visible, conduct routine patrols, and deliver exceptional customer service. What You'll Do:
- Provide customer service by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a government location.
- Monitor entrances and exits, verify identification and/or credentials, and document visitor, staff, and contractor movement in accordance with post orders.
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report security-related concerns to site leadership.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, including interior spaces and perimeter points, to help identify unusual activity and/or policy violations.
- Operate access control and communication systems, maintain accurate activity logs, and support screening procedures for people, property, and/or vehicles entering the location.
Minimum Requirements:
- A current tuberculosis test and MR vaccinations are required in accordance with COLA and DPSS/DHS requirements.
- At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
