    Job Description

Looking for a role where your energy and organization directly shape student success? At Chugach Government Solutions (CGS)—the federal division of Chugach Alaska Corporation—you’ll join a global team that has supported federal missions for 25+ years in facilities, IT/technical services, construction, and education. We reward impact with competitive pay and benefits, growth pathways, and transparent communication.

    Where is this role?

    Cleveland, Ohio — on-site.

    Is this you?

    • Do you naturally model professionalism—on time, prepared, and appropriately dressed?
    • Can you motivate students from diverse backgrounds to join in, try new things, and build healthy habits for life and work?
    • Are you calm and composed when conversations get tough, and skilled at de-escalation?
    • Do you love planning events, booking spaces, arranging transportation, and keeping the details tight?

    What you’ll own

    • Champion student growth by demonstrating positive social behaviors, timely interventions, and coaching on stress relief and employability skills.
    • Engage in BMS and/or SCC programming to reinforce community standards around conduct, appearance, and behavior.
    • Supervise recreation and fitness activities on site, ensuring inclusive participation and a safe environment for all skill levels.
    • Align self-directed activities with established recreation plans.
    • Remove barriers to full participation by refining processes and procedures.
    • Plan recurring events (basketball, volleyball, softball): schedule, reserve, set up, arrange transportation, collect payments, and share details with participants.
    • Continuously suggest improvements to recreation and physical fitness offerings.
    • Support center-wide/volunteer initiatives through special assignments.
    • Hold one-on-ones to work through day-to-day issues tied to recreation and fitness.
    • Provide practical guidance and solutions without imposing personal values.
    • Ready facilities, equipment, and supplies so activities start on time and run smoothly.
    • Drive government vehicles to and from off-site activities.
    • Make reservations, process fees, and brief students on safety protocols for facilities and equipment.
    • Uphold and enforce all safety rules and regulations.
    • Produce monthly recreation and related reports on schedule.
    • Communicate clearly with students; provide information, conduct inspections, and offer counsel.
    • Promote harmony: identify social/behavioral issues early and partner with center staff when escalation is needed.
    • Teach sportsmanship, teamwork, and collaborative group interaction.
    • Work independently on recurring tasks with minimal oversight.
    • Build rapport—even in hostile exchanges—by staying professional and steady.
    • Motivate students who may resist leadership or direction to participate and engage.
    • Be ready for strenuous physical activity while participating in or instructing group sports.
    • Driving may be required.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Performance standards

    • Adhere to company SOPs and personnel policies.
    • Complete all required training per government and management directives.
    • Deliver assignments on time and within cost expectations.
    • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with students and center staff at all levels.
    • Cultivate positive, collaborative relationships across departments.
    • Ensure work products are accurate and completed on schedule.
    • Engage others respectfully and professionally in varied situations.
    • Follow safety policies and use PPE when required.

    • Obtain and maintain DOT/CDL medical certification (if applicable for the position).
    • Successfully pass and participate in the mandatory DOT/CDL drug and alcohol testing program (if applicable)
    • Successfully pass any background check and/drug test required on the contract.
    • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (or ability to obtain and maintain).

    Preferred

    • Associate’s degree in counseling, social work, rehabilitation, education, recreation, or a related discipline.
