    Job Title: Youth Prevention Education & Youth Advisory Committee Coordinator
    Exempt/Non-exempt: Non-exempt
    Immediate Supervisor: Prevention Director
    Compensation: $24 - $25.50

    Essential Functions:
    1. Primarily responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting a youth-led, adult-supported Youth Advisory Committee 
    (YAC) focused on prevention initiatives, facilitating regular meetings and fostering leadership development among 
    committee members. As well as coordinating the implementation of evidence-based substance use prevention curricula 
    for youth, including program logistics, curriculum delivery, assessment, and reporting, ensuring alignment with 
    organizational goals and objectives.
    2. Maintain compliance with best-practice standards and evidence-based guidelines for youth prevention education and 
    advisory committee operations, adhering to funding requirements and organizational policies.
    3. Manage program documentation and reporting, including maintaining accurate records, preparing program files, 
    collecting and analyzing data, and submitting comprehensive reports to organizational leadership and funding agencies.
    4. Participate in mandatory training sessions and professional development opportunities, acquiring and applying new 
    knowledge and skills related to prevention education, youth leadership, and program management.
    5. Collaborate with the broader Prevention Team and external partners to support additional prevention programs and 
    initiatives, contributing to the success of community-wide prevention efforts.
    6. Develop and deliver engaging presentations, workshops, and educational materials for youth audiences, utilizing 
    various mediums to effectively convey prevention messages and promote positive behavior change.
    7. Cultivate a positive and inclusive environment within the Youth Advisory Committee, fostering teamwork, creativity, 
    and empowerment among youth members to drive impactful prevention activities.
    8. Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and forums, serving as a spokesperson for youth 
    prevention efforts and building relationships with key stakeholders and community partners.
    9. Facilitate the creation and dissemination of promotional materials, including social media content, newsletters, and 
    press releases, to raise awareness of prevention programs and engage the broader community.
    10. Provide ongoing support and guidance to youth participants, offering mentorship, advocacy, and resources to 
    enhance their leadership skills and involvement in prevention initiatives.
    11. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate program effectiveness, identify areas for 
    improvement, and implement strategies to enhance the impact and reach of prevention efforts.
    12. Perform other duties as assigned.
     
    Knowledge and Ability Requirements:
    • Proficient in delivering presentations and teaching, with expertise in classroom management techniques and 
    experience working with middle and high school students. Demonstrated strong organizational and project management 
    skills, coupled with a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving. Excellent interpersonal and communication 
    skills, capable of effectively engaging with diverse groups of students, youth, and stakeholders.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, fostering a positive and effective 
    work dynamic.
    • Proficient in utilizing computer software and technology tools, including Microsoft Word/Excel, Canva, and Google 
    Drive.
    • In-depth knowledge of current developments, literature, and best practices in the field of alcohol and substance use 
    prevention, as well as strategies for building protective factors in youth and families.
    • Familiarity with youth leadership development principles and techniques for empowering both youth and 
    adults.
    • Comfortable and adept at navigating various communication platforms and technology tools to facilitate engagement 
    and collaboration among stakeholders.
     
    Education and Experience:
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as prevention, community/public health, education, or social work, or 
    equivalent practical experience. Additional certifications or coursework in substance use prevention and youth 
    development are advantageous.
     
    Physical Demands and Other Requirements: 
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties listed in the job description 
    satisfactorily. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is 
    frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel 
    objects, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Capable of operating standard office equipment, including a computer 
    and keyboard, calculator, typical business machines such as a fax machine and copier. The employee must occasionally 
    lift and/or move up to 20-30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and 
    the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to have valid driver’s license, auto insurance and must be able to 
    safely operate a motor vehicle. The work environment characteristics include a noise level which is usually low to 
    moderate.

    defined by the agency as well as any related professional licensing, regulatory or accrediting body. Maintain 
    confidentiality of client, staff, and agency information. Reports any known or suspected breaches of 
    confidentiality in accordance with policy. Reports possible misconduct or relevant errors/ oversight in a timely 
    manner and responsibly addresses related issues with chain of command. 
     
    • Communication/ Interpersonal Skills: Consistently conveys clear, accurate, timely, and respectful 
    communication appropriate for the situation. Informs appropriate management staff when incident occurs or a 
    crisis situation. Maintains professional boundaries with clients/residents, staff, interns, volunteers, and vendors. 
    Able to successfully share skills and concepts with others and works effectively with others under time and 
    environmental pressures. 
     
    • Safety and Agency Resource Utilization: Demonstrates sound judgement and foresight in safety awareness and 
    in daily work. Notifies, in a timely manner, the supervisory chain of any incidents or circumstances that need 
    attention. Report all suspicions or allegations of abuse immediately to their supervisor. Ensures appropriate 
    utilization of materials and resources and minimizes waste.
