The City of Madison, SD is accepting applications for a temporary Youth Program Lead at the Madison Community Center. This leadership position is responsible for helping lead, organize, and schedule youth programs and special events while supporting a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children participating in the summer program.
This role works to coordinate daily activities, field trips, educational opportunities, and youth programming for various age groups. The Youth Program Lead will also help guide seasonal staff, communicate schedules and program information, and assist in maintaining a positive experience for children and families throughout the summer.
Work is performed both in an office and outdoors. Hours are varied and may be outside of normal working hours. Typical summer program hours range between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; May through September. This position interacts regularly with children, parents, staff, volunteers, and members of the public.
Qualified applicants should have experience working with youth programs, childcare, education, recreation, or related fields. Applicants must be dependable, organized, professional, and able to communicate effectively with children, families, and staff. CPR and First Aid certification is preferred upon hire and must be obtained within 30 days if not already certified. A valid driver's license and successful completion of background checks and fingerprinting are required.
