POSITION SUMMARY:
These general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals, Policies and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay. Under the direction of the Associate Youth Development Director/Youth Development Director, assists with supervision of youth programs focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Plan and implement youth sports program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values, with a focus on youth development and healthy living. Maintains written curriculum plans of activities for all assigned program areas.
Provides direct service to youth, supports on site activities and models relationship building skills in all interactions including conflict resolution.
Assists in recruiting, hiring, training and supervising staff and parent volunteer coaches. Assists with monitoring and evaluating staff performance.
Proactively maintains positive communication with parents, families and other Y departments/supervisors.
Develops and executes planned curriculum and activities for all assigned program areas including but not limited to program schedules and calendars, supply purchasing, field trip reservations, and rentals.
Adhere to program standards including safety standards, such as appropriate ratios and staff breaks.
Prepare and monitor staff schedules, modifying as necessary to maintain appropriate staffto-child ratio.
Ensures YMCA policies and procedures are followed, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, dress code, cell phone use, and emergencies.
Maintain accurate records, such as registration, attendance and Health History Forms.
Care for and maintain youth program supplies, such as first aid and program materials. Keep orderly inventories.
Process administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner and supports the day-to-day operations of assigned youth programs.
Attend and actively participates in department trainings, and staff meetings as scheduled.
Support special events, fund raising, assist in other areas, and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED
Three years of youth development experience
CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications that meet Y standards, such as Red Cross and American Heart Association within 30 days of hire date
Excellent customer service and administrative skills
Self-starter with excellent organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and other computer programs and office machines necessary to perform the duties of the job
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
